"HENDERSON, Nev. —The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a performance by Hector Pimentel & Ensemble at 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. Tickets are $2 for lawn, $3 for section C, $5 for section B, $7 for section A, and $10 for orchestra.
Widely known as New Mexico’s foremost classical guitarist, Hector Pimentel blends a rich cultural heritage with his unique guitar mastery. His ensemble lays down a mix of nuevo flamenco rhythms characterized by what Pimentel calls "a sharply stenciled bass."
"Hector Pimentel was literally born into a musical family. In fact, his family has long had a reputation for creating some of the finest handmade classical guitars in the world," said Sally Ahlstedt, recreation coordinator with the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. "From the age of eight, when he first picked up a guitar to play, Pimentel vowed to learn everything he could about being a guitarist."
Throughout his career, Pimentel has performed in concert halls and musical festivals around the world. His latest CD, "Masterpiece Alma Latina," fuses classical and flamenco with a Southwest flair. His style, range and emotion have earned him critical acclaim as a master of the Spanish guitar. ..."
